Welcome to our overview of RAD’s universe.

As Spring brings new energy and warmer days, things start heating up at RAD too. Spring cleaning creates loads of bike donations while nicer days bring more keen riders into RAD looking for bikes and help.

This spring brings extra special energy as we celebrate 10 years of RAD!

It’s awesome to reminisce about all the RADness we’ve been lucky to be part of and most importantly celebrate all the amazing RAD whānau! We’ve trawled the photo archives and put together a collection of ‘10 years of RAD Activities’. Keep an eye on our socials for ‘10 years of RAD Humans’ coming this summer :)

We’ve loved being part of Biketober and stoked with their tautoko, helping spread the RAD word to more people and supporting our 10th Birthday celebrations! Thank you :)

New Bike Bridge (BB) Cultural Liaison!

Welcome Shaimaa Omar! Cultural Connector, Optimist & Community Nurturer. Full of heart, Shaimaa brings a calm, kind strength to her role at BB (and Shakti), empowering women from ethnic communities. Her warmth and delicious food ensure all feel welcome at class. We’re also lucky to have her organisational and networking skills behind the scenes. Thanks Shaimaa, we’re so grateful to have ya!

We’ve had a flurry of media attention recently, with coverage in various newspapers and Biketober’s promo. Thank you to all for sharing our stories, and our amazing RAD peeps who make these RAD things happen every week. Check out these stories / people here!

Possible Home Emerging!

Since sharing our brief for RAD’s one permanent home far and wide we've been stoked and humbled by the variety of generous offers we’ve received. Thank you RAD whānau! We’re now working through some exciting options. Hopefully we will have more news to share soon, fingers crossed! Inevitably, moving will cost us time and money, so if you’re keen to share time, skills or koha, please get in touch!

Sharing RAD’s Learnings

Recently, we were visited by the wonderful crew at OneBike. This great initiative has been doing awesome mahi down south. They visited RAD to tap into wisdom and gain guidance on expanding their operations for the people of Queenstown. All the best RAD friends!

Busy Sundays

Warmer weather always makes RAD’s original session (Sun 12-4pm) get hectic. We need more helping hands! You can help get people riding and fixing bikes. Or you can help sort and recycle the amazing flood of donations we’re constantly receiving. If you’re interested, sign up to volunteer or just drop by!

Kids Bikes for XMAS

And just like that, the festive season is coming! We’re fixing kids bike for Xmas on Sun 10th Dec. Pop it in your diary and come on down to help fix or find bikes for your wee ones! All bikes unclaimed at the end of the session will be donated to deserving tamariki through Cholmondeley. Helping hands welcome and appreciated :)

Over the last few years we’ve been humbled and excited with RAD’s growth and support. Now, like everyone, RAD is feeling the squeeze on our finances, but we are seeing more people in need of RAD’s services.

So right now is a great time to support the RADness you love! Your giving helps us to grow and thrive. If you’re in a position to support, we’d love you to join our regular giving scheme. Or giving your time is another wonderful way to help us and others feeling the pinch currently.

New seasons bring new challenges, and we’ll keep finding RAD ways to continue our impact and achieve our ultimate goal of one permanent home. This home will help secure our future and ensure Christchurch becomes a more connected and greener place for everyone!
