Get greasy & learn RAD skills…
Our DIY Mehanics sessions empower people to learn, share and connect. This feeds back into RAD and out into the community, enabling more people to repair and ride.
Mechanics Courses
We’ve split our popular Mechanics Course into two 4 week courses to give more options and flexibility for all.
Based on the ‘Park Tools School Curriculum’, Part 1 & 2 cover a range of topics and are aimed at people who want to become confident bike mechanics.
Courses are held regularly throughout the year (generally on Thursday evenings 6.30-9pm, during term times).
Classes are limited to eight students so everyone gets plenty of attention and hands-on learning. Includes Attendance Certificate, Park Tools Manual highly recommended and available for purchase.

Drop-In Sessions
Regular public DIY mechanics sessions, focused on repairing people’s own bikes.
Anyone can join us to recycle and fix bikes for themselves or others. Tools are provided with volunteers on hand to assist.
Our drop-in sessions have been at the heart of RAD operations since our inception. They bring to life our kaupapa enabling all to access cycling, recycling & community connection.
These run Sundays 2-5pm and Wednesdays 6.30-8.30pm (except public holidays) and run on a first in, first served basis. Be warned, these sessions are super popular, so be prepared to hang out, help out, enjoy or join the RADness while you wait for your turn.
Hopefully see you soon!
Find-a-Bike Sess
Regular public sessions focused on rehoming bikes to get more people riding.
We have heaps of second-hand bikes available - some ready to ride, others you can fix up alongside their volunteer crew. Most bikes $70–$170 koha. Under 18s or Community Services Card holders, plus any community referrals get $50 off + free helmet & lock. Also additional financial support available via Buycycles for anyone in need.
These run Mondays and Thursdays 3-6pm (except public holidays) and run on a first in, first served basis. We encourage support people and request one project per group per session, so we don’t overwhelm our amazing volunteer crew.
So come see what RAD ride you can find or get your hands dirty with our crew to get the right one rolling for ya!

Salvage Nights
Weekly sessions dedicated to stripping, sorting and salvaging all the amazing donations we receive.
Salvage nights maximise our recycling efforts, improve the quality of service we provide to our community, and gives us the opportunity to connect as a volunteer crew.
It’s also a great way to learn RAD skills!
Stripping bikes provides practical knowledge of how bikes fit together while recycling parts enables correct tool use and parts assessment.
