Meet our RAD Whanau…

Our Team

Jess Smale

General Coordinator

RADmum, Founding Trustee & No.1 cheerleader.

Overseeing RAD operations since 2015, Jess nurtures our initiatives and ensures our community thrives, all while making sure our volunteers are well-supported and feel the RAD love.

Dave Johnson

Mechanics Teacher & Workshop Manager

Mechanical guru, mad BMX / MTB rider & local legend.

With over 15 years teaching mechanic and riding skills, Dave is a true bike nut. Guiding our volunteers’ mechanical skills over the years, Dave now runs our public mechanics courses and workshops, as well as upping RAD’s game on all levels.

Kiran Marshall

Volunteer Coordinator

Emmy nominated engineer, multilinguist & food lover.

Super smart and wildly humble, Kiran loves happy accidents, including finding RAD. With his diverse skills, global wisdom, caring nature and general love of bikes, he’s helping RAD’s crew and kaupapa to develop and shine.

Shell Harford

Special Projects

Adventure woman, word whizz & lifelong learner.

Having watched RAD grow over many years, Shell is now working hard behind the scenes as our 'special ops' unit. She uses all sorts of cleverness to support RAD’s story telling while helping pedal us towards our big goals.

Adam Tomlinson

Teaching Assistant

Pro mechanic, all round rider & lovely human.

After loads of volunteering, Adam is now Dave’s official sidekick, helping RAD’s workshops and courses hum. Adam has experience supporting youth in social care and worked alongside people with autism so we’re stoked to have his kind and patient nature adding to the team.

Blair Currie

Salvage Squad Coordinator

Weekend warrior, dog lover & chief hustler.

Blair is a man of few words and many talents. He’s working hard to help develop our Salvage Squad; constantly finding RAD gems to give new lives, growing our organisation and enabling a whole lot of RAD rebuilds…in his signature low key way.

Joel Porgand

Workshop Support

Small wheeled bike enthusiast, clever mechanic & parrot dad.

An IT Engineer by day, lover of vintage bikes and super friendly guy, Joel is deploying all his powers to help keep RAD’s operations humming. We’re stoked to have him supporting our staff and nurturing our volunteer crew, so our RAD impacts continue to grow and thrive.

Lois Hill

Bike Bridge Coordinator

Occupational therapist, outdoor enthusiast & organisational powerhouse.

With a background in health and wellbeing, Lois is combining her love of bikes and helping people to run Bike Bridge. We’re stoked to have her responsible and caring nature, creating a supportive environment that empowers all to learn and connect.

Shaimaa Omar

Bike Bridge Cultural Liasion

Cultural connector, optimist & community nurturer.

Full of heart, Shaimaa brings a calm, kind strength to her role at Bike Bridge (and Shakti), empowering women from ethnic communities. Her warmth and delicious food ensure all feel welcome at class, and we’re lucky to have her organisational and networking skills behind the scenes.
